Design is not about the beautiful room you never use.

It is about the life you actually live, your pets, your kids, your aging parents, the way you move through a space at 7am versus 10pm. I design for that life. Not for a photograph.

Background

I am a licensed architect, certified interior designer, and project manager based in Washington, D.C. with over a decade of experience working across institutional, civic, and commercial projects.

My background is international. I came to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar from Iraq, and that experience shaped the way I understand space: how it holds culture, shapes daily life, and either supports or fights against the way people actually live.

My firm career has been built on large-scale commercial and institutional work, the kind of complex, highly technical projects where precision is not optional. That rigor is what I bring to every space I design, no matter the scale.

Design philosophy

"Think of the china that stays in the cabinet, never touched. Beautiful. Untouched. Pointless. I do not design china cabinets. I design spaces you live in , for aging in place, for the dog, for the child, for the way light moves through your window at noon."

One space. Full attention.

Large firms are built for large projects. I created this practice for something different: one room, one client, one complete design — resolved from first principles, not assembled from a catalog.

My clients are not looking for a decorator. They are looking for someone who can think through a problem the way an architect does — who considers structure, proportion, flow, and material honestly,  and then delivers a space that works as well as it looks.

They want to be different from what an algorithm or a Pinterest board would give them. So do I.

Beyond the work

I serve as a licensing advisor through NCARB, mentoring architects through their path to licensure. I have volunteered with Canstruction DC and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, and I have spent years mentoring students and young professionals navigating international transitions — because I remember what that felt like.

If you want a space that is thought through, not just styled — let's talk.
