is real, but the Architect's Audit requires a different pace.

NeoCon is more than an industry event. It's a yearly pilgrimage, and I mean that intentionally.

I've experienced it from several angles: first time as a POD Design Winner (The Biophilic Portal) link in the comment below. and other years through the dual lens of an Architect and Interior Designer. It is beautiful, dense, and admittedly exhausting, in the best possible way.

Last time, I found myself in a constant mental chess match with the Chicago map, sprinting from the Mart to Fulton Market to catch one specific innovation, only to realize I was already late for something across town. And beyond the logistics, there's the deeper challenge: filtering what is truly innovative from what is simply trending. That takes real mental energy.

Because when you work on large-scale institutional and government projects, the showroom floor looks different. I see a stunning finish and immediately think of BAA compliance. I see a beautiful furniture system and I'm checking its viability for a government-grade lifecycle. I'm always searching for that rare intersection of wellness and strict utility, the product that doesn't ask me to choose between the two.

That filter changes everything. NeoCon isn't a sprint for me. It's a marathon. I've learned that visiting every couple of years, letting the hype settle, is how I find the technical partners who actually solve the complex problems I face at the drafting table.

So I'm sitting this one out. The FOMO is real, but my current projects deserve the full focus. I'm watching from afar, taking notes, and I'm already looking at 2027.

To the brands and exhibitors showing this June : the work you put into these installations doesn't go unnoticed, even by those of us watching from a distance. I'm looking for the partners who make high-level design easier, not harder. The ones who understand that beautiful and compliant are not mutually exclusive.

Chicago, See you in 2027. Maybe sooner, if the right collaboration calls.
